  • Ramp Before and After - Chicago

    Alberta ramp before

Here is a picture of an existing ramp in Chicago that has a number of problems. If you look closely you can see that the upright posts are supported by concrete blocks resting on the ground. As the ground shifts through the freeze/thaw cycle or as it gets wet and muddy those concrete blocks are going to move as well causing the entire ramp to shift. Over time the contstant movement could tear the ramp apart. Also notice the non code-compliant handrails.

  • Alberta ramp after

Through Chicago's MOPD program EHLS was able to replace the problem structure with a new code compliant ramp. The upright posts in the new structure are anchored to 42" deep concrete piers that provide a solid foundation. The new handrails have vertical balusters that will prevent a wheelchair from accidentally running off either side. A new sidewalk completes the project.

  • Before and after pictures of ramp - Frankfort

    Swasas front before ramp

The husband in this Frankfort home was forced to use a wheelchair after sustaining a serious on the job injury. To accommodate the wheelchair his wife had been using portable aluminum ramp at their front door. EHLS replaced the portable ramp with a permanent wood ramp.

  • Swasas front ramp

Here is a picture of the new ramp right outside the front entrance. Note that the height of the landing matches the height of the threshold making it easy for a wheelchair to roll in and out.

  • Ramp For a Room Addition

    Ramp

This ramp is part of a larger project that included a room addition on the home. The ramp provides access to a door in the new section. Note the aluminum plate at the end of the ramp that helps smooth the transition from the wood decking to the sidewalk.
