1. skokie home modifications

Skokie Home Modifications – Ramp – Change focus to elevator in a normal house: 

 

EHLS provided this ranch style home in Skokie with a variety of home modifications, including a vertical platform ramp in the back of the house, this ramp in the front, a 2- stop elevator, accessible bathroom.  The next several photos shows details of this project.

Skokie Home Modification - Basement: 

 

This is the basement of a home in Skokie where EHLS refinished the basement. The basement was entirely refinished with wood floors.  EHLS eliminated walls creating open spaces and an accessible bathroom in the basement as well.  The elevator on the right allows access on both levels of the home allowing all members of the family a place to congregate.  In addition, EHLS modified the front and back of the house for access.   

3. lincolnwood home elevator addition

Lincolnwood Home Elevator Addition: 

 

This modification shows the detail of the exterior of a home in Lincolnwood in which a hoistway was built on the side of the existing home to accommodate a residential 3 stop elevator to all levels of the house.  The owner of the home did not sacrifice space for the installation because an addition was constructed to house the elevator.

Lake Fontana, WI Elevator & Hoist-way Modifications

 

This kitchen/family room combo in a golf course subdivision in Lake Fontana, Wisconsin has a residential elevator, just to the right of the refrigerator.  Prior to the modification work by EHLS, there was a very inaccessible spiral staircase, which was removed to house this two stop elevator, enabling the occupants to continue living in their lake home.

This elevator shaft, created by To The Top, blends right into the existing home- you cannot tell it did not come with the original home!

6.winnetka home modifications

Winnetka Home Modifications: 

 

This is an exterior shot of a lovely home in Winnetka that involved extensive modification work.  The three-story addition will accommodate a 4-stop home elevator as well additional room in the kitchen, an accessible bathroom and bedroom.

Pouring of a pit into an existing foundation.  The pit structure and dimension provide the long-term stability of the elevator shaft.  Additionally, having a pit allows the elevator to stop even with the bottom level’s finished floor.  There are ways to construct an elevator without a pit, ask us how!

A typical hoistway shaft as viewed from above prior to drywall.  It is important that a hoistway is plumb and level to ensure smooth elevator operation.  To The Top has designed and built dozens of hoistways into existing homes and can help you add one to your existing home!

9.logan square chicago

Historic Logan Square Modifications: 

 

EHLS created a hoist-way for a new elevator in this 100+ year old historic Logan Square home.  This picture shows work in progress, highlighting the rough or studded framing of a hoistway.

10. gal interlock

GAL Interlock           

 

This picture depicts a standard GAL interlock system.  This positive locking device prevents an elevator door from being opened when the elevator is not at that level.

Otis at Home features a compact tank with a submersible pump that allows for smaller machine room requirements.  The controller and disconnects are wall mounted and can be positioned in many different ways to accommodate the space provided.
