This woman is using a Savaria ES 125 inclined platform lift in a public setting, making total accessibility possible - without the need for structural changes or modifications to the stairs.  The existing stairs are intact as an inclined platform lift carries a wheelchair user over the stairs.   An IPL does not require the user to transfer from their wheelchair. 

This is an inclined platform lift in a residential setting.  Note the optional folding seat for non-wheelchair users.  The unit folds up flush against the wall when it is not in use to keep the stairway open.   Accessibility within the home environment is just as important as it is within a public setting.  

A Carrier Lift is a curved inclined platform lift from TKAccess that can be used to turn corners on stairways and can accommodate an intermediate flat landing.  This kind of lift is most frequently used in a public building and has a power folding ramp.  

The Carrier Lift in the parked position is within a church.  Please note that it curves around the bottom of the stairway in order to leave the hallway entirely accessible when the unit is not in use.  

This is another application of a Carrier Lift in a commercial setting.  The IPL makes a 180 degree turn as it glides along the existing stairs.  A user or attendant can operate the unit by using a hand held pendant control.  Manual or power fold up arms are optional and rise when the lift stops and lower for safety purpose when in motion.

Pictured here is an outdoor application of a Savaria ES 125 at the front door of a home.  This particular unit is a drum driven unit, with the cable and drum system hidden underneath the pre-existing stairs.  

Another outdoor application of an IPL in a residential setting is pictured here, although this one has a tower unit by the door, which houses the mechanical equipment.  Most outdoor lifts of this kind are tower units because of the concrete stairs.  Please note the lovely bench and latticework at the bottom of the newly constructed stairs.
